If you know how to sew Jean purses are a fun idea. You can decorate them in any theme you'd like and they are very cheap to make especially if you buy old jeans from the thrift store. You can also make tons of different sizes depending on what size jean you buy.

I think your idea is a splendid one.
How about a few small patchwork items? It would be quite nice to just join your pieces of fabric together and then, when you have a large enough piece cut it out to make things like the ones I've suggest ed below. Pot holders, oven gloves, or even applique a few flowers or something onto plain tea towels. They go well at sales of work over here in England.
If you can get some lavender or herbs you could make a few little herb bags/cushions. don't know if you have hops in the States but if you made some hop filled pillows they sell well because the odor of hops is a mild sedative and they are good for people who don't sleep well.
Do let me know how you get on with your sale. I shall be thinking of you and hoping you will do well. Good luck and God bless.

You could buy women's evening gowns at the thrift store and make little girls Halloween costumes with them. Simple tu-tus or elastic-waist skirts. You could make fairy wings with the left-over fabric to match the skirts. Bend coat hangers into shape to make the wing frame first (draw the wing shape onto a big piece of newspaper first and bend wire following the lines). Hot-glue the fabric to the frame. Maybe add glitter or other decorations. The girls could wear them over a leotard.

That depends on what crafts you know how to do. Do you sew? Crochet? Make dolls?
Christmas stockings, trimmed with lace and ribbon from the thrift store's gaudier clothes.
Christmas placemats and napkins, or winter-themed (snow, snowmen, etc.)
Aprons, chef style but out of more interesting fabric. It's shocking what they retail for.
Costumes for kids and adults, sold as sets. Thrift stores can produce cowboy, clown, vampire, and princess get-ups easily.
Candles, easy to make.
Baked goods, eat-now or freezer-ready.
Good luck helping your mom with her bill!

I find it sad that you feel a need to pay your mom's bills, unless it's something you caused. That's a lot of money, does she know you are trying to do it?
If your neighbors are crabby, they will cause trouble for you. In most towns, you can't sell new things from your yard, only used things that you have dug out of your closets or whatever.
That said, you could hold a neighborhood yard sale and offer to sit out there for people and let them bring their stuff for you to sell, and they would each pay you $5.00 for a table.
But I still think a mom has no business letting her child try to raise money to pay bills.
I am a professional crafter, I do it for a living, and I can't raise $600.00 in one day or even a weekend.
