Yes but not to the point that I think that I am better than any one else. God made us all equal.

Puerto Rican and Columbian are nationalities not races. There are no definable races in humans. There are different cultures and different nationalities but not races. "Hispanic" is not a race, it is a racial slur only used in North America. You don't hear it in Europe or anywhere else.

Be proud or your origins, your culture and your country by all means but you can't be proud of your "race", there are no races in humans.

Why? I did nothing to make myself Asian. I am more proud of being a mother to two beautiful children, I am proud of my home-which I take great care in maintaining and decorating. I am proud to be the wife of a wonderful man, of having an excellent career that not only makes money but helps others. I'm proud of speaking three languages. These are the things I did myself, and what defines me as a person. I am so much more than Asian. I am me.

Race seems so artificial to me. Hispanic only means you speak Spanish. You could be almost any race. What is to be proud of?
I am many different heritages myself. I speak Spanish better than Italian and English better than either Spanish or Italian.

When I am in Latin neighborhoods I am Latin. I speak Spanish. I know my way around the commerce. In San Francisco no one doubts I am Latino. There it serves me.

I live part of the year in Guatemala. In Guatemala I am seen as a gringo. It is a great disadvantage to be seen as a gringo.

What am I going to be proud of?
I will be proud of my ability to speak the languages common in the areas I live in. I will be proud of my comfort in a wide variety of cultural and social daily life.
I will be proud of my expanded world view, derived from the extreme differences in world view, offered by diverse social environments. I will be proud of my skill dancing Rumba. I will be proud of the diversity of the ritmos I can play.

Race is too abstract an idea. We are all hybrid of many different genetic tendencies and the mixing is increasing at a remarkable rate. All of these mixed people will tend to benefit from hybrid vigor. I benefit from it as well as you.
I have great confidence in the enhanced potential of children of unalike parents. I doubt there is any group of people left who are unmixed to some degree. I fail to see the reason people put so much heat on these questions.

So the answer to your question is NO. I have no fixed race. My racial identity changes with my location. It is determined by the perception of the members of the dominant culture where ever I am.

A single racial identity is way too limiting and also dishonest as it does not own all of the components that are uniquely you.

I prefer to be proud of and to use my language skills, cultural familiarity and social skills to improve and enlarge my world.

I encourage you to a larger view.

Yes I'm proud, but I try to keep it in context. We can all get carried away with that one. To be honest I feel more pride when someone of different color, race and religion smiles at me and says "hello".
