Dogfighting has been going on for years and years. Everyone knows someone who fights dogs. If Vick was never accused of doing this, it wouldn't have been in the news. No one would have been talking about the "poor little dogs." Everyone would care less about those dogs. No one would talk about it. And remember, Vick is not being accused of dogfighting, he's being accused of illegal gambling. The NFL could care less about those dogs. They are looking out for themselves. Where I'm from, dogfighting is the norm. It is just another sport around here. Dogs don't win, well, they get to visit dog heaven. Vick will probably do a year, get out, and sign with another team. He won't be banned like everyone says. He brings in too much money. When he gets out, everyone will love him, which they should. Vick is a great player. Had he been a regular dude, he would just get a fine like around here. No one goes to jail. Just a fine. Too bad for Vick. The NFL will miss his excitement.

Uh, Maxwell, what does Pacman Jones have to do with this? He hasn't been convicted of anything. Racist!

I only want to comment on one thing...Vick USED to bring in money. He's been convicted in the "court of public opinion" already...he will not bring in money anymore, all he'll bring is protesters and more calls for him to be banned. You making light of dog fighting, well that makes you a jack***, but you might be right about it not being that big of an issue in the news, but you know, it's big because Vick is a big name, that doesn't make the offense any less serious, high profile names get high profile criticism...How many people do cocaine and get news time compared to Lindsay Lohan? It's the same deal with Vick.

Nobody would miss Vick, either as a QB or a person, because as far as people are concerned, he's guilty. Is he really? I don't know, I certainly hope not, but I have a hard time believing that he had nothing to do with it....and by the way...it's a felony, I wouldn't go around admitting that you're involved in it...

He isn't a scapegoat. He is a POS that broke the law and will be punished for it. No team will take the PR hit on signing a crappy overpriced QB like Vick. He has crappy career stats and his teams don't win. Nothing good there. You sound like a POS too. Don't worry you will get whats coming to you.

Burn - Pit bulls are actually very friendly protective loyal dogs until they are trained to kill. Bad people are the reasons why they are bad dogs.

So Clean - You must be black. Both of them have been charged with crimes several times. Sure no convictions yet but where there is smoke there is usually fire. Would you trust Michael Jackson to babysit your kids? He was never convicted so it must be ok. You people are disgusting sticking up for someone while overlooking all the evidence and assuming that anything against them is just an excuse for someone to keep blacks down.

Vick is no scapegoat. a scapegoat is one who takes punishment for what was done by themselves and other people, while the other people aren't tried.

Vick is not taking a hit for what other people did, keep in mind there have been 2 others in the specific vick case that have already confessed, and i believe there are a few others being tried too. it only seems vick is a scapegoat because he is in the spotlight. he is getting more attention than the other people in the trial for two reasons: he is FAMOUS, and it WAS HIS house, under HIS name.

lots of people care about the dogs.

as for punishment, vick WILL be banned from the NFL. a lot of people hate him, parents are making their kids get rid of his jerseys [i know some who have]. there are t-shirts made against vick and dogfighting. if the NFL doesn't ban Vick, people will hate the NFL, and the NFL doesn't want people hating them.

Use Your head. (if You have one)
sure, dog fighting has been going on for years. and, for years, people have been arrested for it.
of course, if these accusations had not been made, no one would feel sorry for the poor dogs. if the accusations had not been made, no one would know about it.
as for Your dog fighting, Vick will be getting lonely and, will be in need of some company. the two of You can sit in the cell and, talk about being co scapegoats.

You are wrong, I do not know anyone who "fights" dogs. If Vick had anything to do with this aberrant sport he should be banned from football for life. If what I read is correct, and I will wait and see, Vick is sick. Who but a "sicko" would treat animals (any animal that has been domesticated) that way? And no, its not racist. If the blacks commit the crimes, they should be punished, if whites, so should they. Vick will not be missed. What kind of win/loss record did he generate for Atlanta? Not an outstanding one.

The point is that all he done was illegal. The celebs are punished more severely now than before bc they are rold models for some people, and should do what is right on a continuous basis. Hopefully he will be done in and never be able to play again bc of what he did. You are wrong, not everyone knows someone who fights dogs, bc if I did, I would call the authorities until it was completely stopped. It is a cruel cruel thing. You actually believe the BS you are putting out on here, huh? That is so sad. I hope you get help.

Just because something's been around for a long time doesn't make it right. Slavery's been a part of human history for thousands of years, and still exists to this day. Does that make it right? No.

And quite frankly, just because dog fighting exists in whatever part of the world you're in doesn't make it the norm. The fact that you have to hide dog fighting, that you have to do it in secrecy and out of the public's eye means that at some level you know it's wrong. If dog fighting is truly the norm, as you say it is, then it would be done in the public with the cameras rolling. The fact that it's done in basements, private homes, and other out of the way places just proves that it isn't condoned by the rest of society.

First of all it's not the NFL that's punishing him. Secondly he is charged with the gambling because that is what is on their jurisdiction. THe Virginia authorities still may charge him with the dogfighting aspect.

Ummm...I don't know anyone that dogfights. But thats probably because I'm not trashy and poor.

Dogfighting has been outlawed for years and years, and I personally don't know anyone who fights dogs, although I know several who own pitbulls. And Vick isn't coming back to play when he gets out, either, because he isn't that good a quarterback to begin with, and no team is going to want to alienate their fan base.

You must be a joker, right? I am 70 years old and have never seen a dog fight and don't know anyone who has. We have laws to live by in this country. Dog fighting is againest the law in almost every state. Vick was a ring leader and his millions were not enough to keep him happy. His pals were hoods and you know it. He is finished as a pro football player unless he goes overseas and plays. Maybe China will accept him. They not only fight dogs, they eat them. He will get his due and I for one hopes it is a lot.
