The reason I don't like it when people leave up their xmas lights and other decorations is because you get so used to it, there is nothing special about it when xmas does come. If you put it away, then in early December when you put it back up again you can really feel like you're getting into the whole christmas spirit. Just a personal choice, but I prefer when people take it down when the season is over.

Leave 'em up. You've only got another three months before you'd have to haul them out again. In the meantime you can dress up the Wise Men for Halloween and add gourds & corn to the manger for Thanksgiving.

Take them down. Doesn't matter that Christmas is only four months away; you're neighbors have definately laughed at you enough... take away the reason! For the love of all that is good, take them down until after Thanksgiving!

I work for a cable company. I hear about lightning storms all the time. Christmas lights actually attract lightning!!

Well gees, you should have taken them down by January, so since they are still up, leave them. Only 4 more months and you'll be putting them up anyway!
