I have a very thick quilt, and a blanket over it I always feel the cold, but find having blankets uncomfortable,

A quilt but might go back to blankets one of these days. I like a cold bed and then just warm up while I'm in there.

It's not exactly a quilt . . . It's more of like a long blanket. I sleep on top of it, that way I don't have to make my bed since I'm lazy. I use my favorite blanket instead. That one is smaller and easier to fix.

I have a quilt, but usually throw it off in the middle of the night because I get too hot.

I would not. I didn't put any blankets in my daughters bassinet except she was once ready to roll over. I used to be super involved about sids at all times and could not sleep if she had some thing in there with her. I have constantly put the same little stuffed animal in where ever she sleeps, she is seven months historical now and will not sleep without it. You must get these blanket sleepers, it's like her having a blanket on. So far as placing one below her, I definitely would not. We consistently put a pillow under one side of the mattress in her crib to kind of elevate her a bit. That helped her a lot. We did the identical thing with her bassinet simply with a blanket. My little one sitter said she use to roll up receiving blankets and put them on each part of her daughter. I would ask your health care professional!
