Please help me with the following:

1) What is the slope of line y=3/4x-1?

2) What is the y-intercept of line 2x+3y=6?

3) Find an equation of the line with slope -4/3 and y-intercept 3. Leave equation in slope intercept form.

4) Find an equation of the line that goes through the point (2,1) and has a slope of 4. Leave equation in point-slope form.

THANK YOU!!! I appreciate any help I can get.

Gee, I thought these were algebra problems.
OK, to do slope problems, you have to get an equation in slope-intercept format, which is
************** Y = MX + B
M is the slope
B is the Y-intercept. (the value of Y when X=0)
1. Do this by inspection
2. Convert from linear to slope-intercept form
3. This is a "Simpson" question. If you d-u-u-h, you are a Simpson.
4. Take your slope-intercept eqtn and subst.
X=2 and Y=1 to find B. Point-slope form is the same as slope intercept.

1) The slope of line y=mx+c is m. Here m=3/4.
So slope is 3/4.

2) The y-intercept of line y=mx+c is c.
Write 2x+3y=6 in the above form.
3y=-2x+6
y=(-2/3)x+2
So y-intercept is 2.

3) The slope intercept form is y=mx+c, m is the slope and c is the y-intercept.
So equation is y=(-4/3)x+3.

4) The point slope form is (y-y1)=m(x-x1).
Here, m=4, (x1,y1)=(2,1).
So equation is (y-1)=4(x-2).

ok, if i remember correctly, here is what i get:

1. it is in point-slope form, which makes this easier. 3/4 is the slope (and -1 is the y-intercept

2. you need to put htis in slope intercept form for to figure it out.
2x+3y=6
-2x -2x
3y=6-2x
/3 /3
y=2-2/3x
and to fisih it off, you change the order around (but keep the signs!)
y=-2/3x+2
so your y-int. is 2 (and the slope is -2/3)

3. you now know you to read the slope-int form, so just plug the numbers in!
y=(__)x +/- __
y=(-4/3)x+(3)

4. i don't remember which is point slope form... sorry! or i might have gotten it confused with slope-intercept form 9in which case #3 is wrong but it would be the correct way of doing #4. try looking up how each form is written on wikipedia)

These are not geometry questions; just basic slope.

a) 3/4
b) 2
c) (-4/3)x+3
d)y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-1 =4(x-2)

You really need to learn how to do your own homework
