Pressing the pedal to the floor makes the ecm go into clear flood mode where the fuel to the engine is greatly decreased. Suspect a bad engine coolant temp sensor or a leaking fuel pressure regulator.

You may wanna check your fuel filter, it might be clogging up with dirt and other particles which may force you to use the gas pedal to start . Clogging of filter is normal especially when you run your tank low It tends to pick up sediments on the bottom of your fuel tank.

seems such as you have an 80 two Mustang. It has a carburator. The carburator might routinely have a quickly idle device to maintain the rpms up for the 1st at a similar time as. Yours seems to be lacking that device.

indicates a flooded condition or a very dirty air intake/filter..holding the pedal to the foor on cranking on some GM CARS AND TRUCKS SHUTS OFF ADDITIONAL FUEL so by your description i would guess you have a leaking injector or pressure regulator

bad coolant temp sensor. saturn used a cheap plastic sensor that will crack and not read properly. they finally updated to a brass sensor. also check the sensor connector for corrosion and replace it as well if needed.
