If you are in the U.S., colleges have what they call "core" or "general education" requirements, which are designed to give you a broad range of the types of things you mention. About 1/3 to /12 of the classes you take will be in that category, and the rest will be in your major.

Four year college you do have those but it only like one semester of each.
Many Tech schools and Junior Colleges may offer an A.A.S. Associate degree in 2 years and only focus on what you really need to learn.
Sometimes, you can take some college courses during high school, I not sure how it work, but, had friends do this when I was in High School. Talk with Counselors at both, your school and the colleges and tech schools around and learn "Now" not when you ready to go. Get your options straight now!

Yes you have to take general education (GE or gen eds) to graduate. They are required no matter what your major. You will have the option of which ones to take. For instance, at my school we have to take a literature class but we can chose which one we want.
