What are some good colleges to go to in the south if i want to own my own business? I don't want the college to be too big, but not too small either. Thanks for the help!

I am not familar with southern schools or what you consider too big or too small.

As you are checking out the schools, check to see if they have SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) program running. You should ask to see their list of student achievements and alumni achievements. Most good business schools have strong emphasis on networking even if it is not part of the discipline.

The only limitations I would have on size is that you should not be limited to having the same professor for more than two courses and that they are not being taught by teaching assistants.

I am very fond of Coastal Carolina University. But then, I went to Coastal Carolina. ('06 music)

CCU is a great mid-size state liberal arts college in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. The business school is AACSB accredited - a good thing for business grads.

Athletics, if you're into that sort of thing, is NCAA division I and not too shabby performers over the last couple years.

Arts are a high priority campuswide. The campus is rural setting with a lot of green space. Columbia and Charleston are in the 2-2.5 hour range. Charlotte and Atlanta are a day trip.

Coolest thing though - we have a beach!

you don't need a degree of any kind to run your own business. So why waste your money? Either read up on the internet or learn from reading books from your library with regard to owning a business. You do however need cash for start-up of your business.

What about genetics?.

Sounds like you're up-in-the-air about what you want to do with your life. Why not take courses at a nearby community college and get your AA, like maybe in Business Administration or Business Management....and that will be less expensive and easier for you to learn. Then take that AA to a 4-year college and get your final two years there.
No matter what degree you get you will still have to take an extra 2 years of schooling to specialize. If you're not ready for huge debt that you'd have to pay back and aren't sure if what you will be doing in life will return that money, then don't take the chance of borrowing.
