+Brain Age-Great game, addictive and the perfect pick up and play for a minute or two game. ($20)
+Pokemon Diamond and Pearl-its pretty good, a solid RPG for the DS. ($35)
+Animal Crossing-not as good as the gamecube version, but cute and loads of fun.
+Phoneix Wright-a lot of fun to play, a definate buy. It puts you as ace attorney Wright and solving cases.
+New Super Mario bros-you can't go wrong with the mario games, its fun, entertaining and will keep you busy.

Now, I know this is long, so you might want to grab some snacks before you start reading... Here are my reccomendations with the ds:
Well, here are the best 1-player games according to my preference:
1. Mario Kart DS
I'd say overall Mario kart is the best game out there. It doesn't get much better than a selection of lot's of characters, 30+ karts all with different stats, Knocking your opponents into lava, water, and off cliffs, the abbility of throwing bombs, shells, and banana peels at those you don't like WITH the selection of a variety of cources. It also has the wi-fi capability, which makes a great game even greater. It's a great game. That's all I can say. Oh yea, and your cousins have it, so why not get it and play multi player.
2. Metroid Prime: Hunters
Now if you're hungry for a First person shooter, Metroid is the way to go. Blasting your enemies to bits with a choice of extreme, high-tech weapons, It's not hard to see why this game is so popular. Metroid does have the capability of going wi-fi. I'd say it's the #2 best wi-fi game.
3. Super Mario 64 DS
Ah, yes. Super Mario 64 Ds. Such a classic, it can't be left off my top 3 list. A take back is that Super Mario 64 does not allow wi-fi gameplay... I guess I won't go into a lengthy description with this game as I do have more to say...
If you do have wi-fi access at your house, I would highly recomend Starfox Command; Starfox I do admit is not a great 1-player game, but it's just impossible to get any better than it's wi-fi mode. It surpasses all games in this field.
Some other games to look into:
New Super Mario Bros.
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Etrian Oddessey
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Final Fantasy III
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is coming out soon(October 1), so you could pre-order it if you're a fan of zelda.
I'm done now. Sorry I wrote so much, hehe, I hope it helps though.

I really love Trauma Center, its a medical game. But a lot of people love Pokemon. Truthfully, whatever you're interested in, there is probably a game out there for you.
Game Stop has tons. Just go to your local video gaming shop and the clerk there can help you find some.

Pokemon diamond is great. For about $34, I played 140 hours so far, and still didn't get bored yet.
