think you have to be 16 or 17 but you'd have to have some sort of cooking experience before they'll let you cook.

honestly, living here in NYC for me when I was a teen here you have to be at least 16 to work, I took on many fast food jobs. For the most part they usually start you off with something easy like passing the food to the customer or doing the fries. However, depending on the fast food place they may train you to do cooking right away so you know the basics what goes on what and when or check your honesty with the register first. The Manager/asst. Manager has the say so where you train first if you are hired even though you may suggest you want cooking. Keep an open mind to anything and also if you work in a hamburger place remember its harder in the cooking area since you have alot of heat from the frys and burgers and such can be very hard to breathe and get used to. Maybe you should try kmart or walmart and ask for stock or a grocery store you have a better chance their and be in air conditioning then in heat, also they pay better.

At least 16. Being a cook doesn't nec. mean being put in a position as a chef..u just flip the patties or throw some fries in the deep fryer. being a cashier isn't all that bad either. you tend to meet alot of people, it'll be easier than being stuck in the back all sweaty over the grills.

i've worked at Sonic and Whataburger, and waitressed. From wht i've seen, they usually get guys to do the flippin and grillin, but all u need to put on ur application is that the position you are applying for is COOK. thats all u gotta do. they might try to switch you later, cuz you're a girl. >:-| or maybe TX is just gay like that.

16 and just a little fyi....you don't get to choose what you do...you can't just do what you want....it's only minimum wage. So they will put you where they need you most and you'll train for about 3 days until your by yourself on whatever position.
