My son came across a Canadian nickel ... 1928, with a king and "Georgvis V DEI GRA: REX ET IND:IMP:" inscribed on the back of it. Is it worth anything?

King George V ruled the UK from 1911-1936. Canada is a Commonwealth of the UK. The coin in average circulated condition sells for .25-.75 cents. It is not a scarce date and has a mintage of about 4,589,000. The Canadian coinage of George V is kind of striking due to the robe and the large crown.It is worth holding on to for as time goes by it's value will go up. The coins of our northern neighbor are actually under priced and as more collectors give up on U.S. coins due to high costs, Canada's coins will then catch on as a bargain and they too will go up.

Take your coin to a dealer and they can give you a good price estimate. Without pictures it is hard for us to give you a value on it. A lot of pricing depends on the condition and rarity of the coin. So again, your best bet would be a dealer. Taiping did give you good estimates though.

keep it and go to like a store that can tell you but you might want to keep it for a little while longer.
