That seems right, but for some reason it doesn't sound quite right...when you fall in love, you do give your heart to the other person, but you are not dead...it is almost like that of skydiving...when you jump out of the plane...you believe that the parachute will open...same is with falling in love...you put your heart out hoping that it will be taken in but if not you get back up, dust off...but some people allow that fall (when someone does not return their love) to kill them...

No not at all,it sounds like it was written by someone who had their heart broken and if so it was the person who broke it that is the cause of that feeling,not the act of falling in love.

What a dismal thing to say about love. I can tell you from my own experience, when everything goes down hill in ones life; and you have no family and your friends abandon you, the one thing that remains constant and remains is the love that you have in your heart.
