I looked in this little firebox thing and there was an envelope in there. It had my grandma's handwriting on there... now she's about 83 years old... anyway it said, "7 different bank noted 50 cents" So I looked inside and there were all these different bank notes... I counted up the money and it came out to be somewhere around 2700 dollars! I looked at the year on one of the 1000 dollar ones and it's hard to read but I think it said 1790... or 17-- something.. I was wondering if anyone knows about how much it would be worth today
You probably will ask for more info so if you post what you want I can try to look on the bill and post more info..
Thanks!

Ask your dad about it. Then find out if it is real. Did they even make $1000 notes back then? That would be like a million $$$ in today's money! If you have a digital I would be interested in seeing a picture of it.

Whatever you do though, don't try and sell it! The bills could be worth a fortune. You would need a reputable appraiser or maybe take them to a museum....

A question:

Does your dad know that you've been snooping? Because a lockbox with something valuable in it (even if it's only of historical value) shouldn't be rifled through lightly. It's not yours.

Ask your dad about them. Tell him you're curious about what grandma had in there, and where they came from. It might be a really great family story.

Don't think about how much they're worth, or about selling them. They're not yours...

Leave that stuff alone! Stay outa Dad's closet. By the way they're worth more than you can hock'em for if you don't know how to trade collectable currency.
