That's not really fair. I mean yeah smokers are killing themselves with all that tobacco and all those chemicals but they're not the only ones. People with cholesterol problems who keep eating fast food, diabetics who don't stop drinking sodas or candy, people with ulcers who don't always quit that stressful thing that gave them the ulcer, alcoholics with liver damage who don't stop drinking. People do bad stuff to themselves all the time and don't stop even when they have health problems that dictate they should. So it's not fair to penalize the smokers when plenty of people do other bad things for themselves.

I am a smoker and i am trying to quit, but who are you to say that smokers should not get health care or insurance? My grandfather started smoking during his service of this country in WW2. Do you think he should not have that either? people take chances the min they wake up and walk out the door. you really should think before you speak

I disagree. They should get education, and an insistent healthcare program that shows regularly what they are doing to their health as a result of smoking.
Let's see health care as proactive and not simply reactive. Then costs will not be as high, because large costly problems will be phased out by simple regular up-keep.
Good Luck and Goddess Bless.

i disagree. we all pay taxes and most pay some portion of our health premiums. if you start with smokers, where will you end up? there are many groups who could be excluded from soda drinkers to lactate intolerant infants. pretty soon you would end up with a bankrupt population who couldn't pay their debts (gee worse than it is now). there would also be the group of legally covered health-care plan individuals who have to pay much higher rates because of the lack of people in the plans.

Everyone should have health care and insurance. Very few people lead a perfectly healthy life. There are people who don't exercise, drink and stay in stressful situations.

So how about pregnant women not getting healthcare? It's the same vein of thought. Let's deny health insurance of overweight individuals also. They "chose" their illness, right?
Do you see how silly your way of thinking is?

I used to smoke, and while I was smoking, I voted on a bill to pay for health care by taxing cigarettes!
And when I was smoking I also PAID for health care! So, yes, I think people who smoke SHOULD get health care, and insurance!
We pay taxes, just like every one else!

Not I . Who agrees with me that anyone with an addiction problem , should not get help ? I think every human being should have health care benefits. Try being more open minded to everyone else it's easy if you try.

The tax dollars that come from my ciggerettes go into the health care system, so I guess I should be entitled to health care.

Well, in that case I guess people with diabetes, bad genetics, and aren't sterile shouldn't have health care either.
Do you drink Alcohol?
