Roberta Flack.

Actually, technically the writers were James Mtume and Reggie Lucas, who created the hit for her in 1977. The recording appeared on the Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway 1977 album, ‘Blue Lights In The Basement', on which Mtume and Lucas also performed.
