they sometimes turn off and dont come back on ive changed the dimmer sw and light swichth and i dont no where the ground is on this model

Check the fuses, see if any have blown. If that's not it, check the wires for a bad connection and either rewire or fix the short.

The best thing to do is get a $15 voltmeter and check the wires to the headlights. Hook the black lead on the voltmeter to the engine and poke around with the red lead. Make sure you have 0 volts on the ground wire and 12-14 on the hot wire. If you have voltage on the ground wire from the headlight socket, that wire could be loose or you could have a bad ground connection between the engine and the chassis.
