Asia is traditionally defined as part of the landmass of Africa-Eurasia – with the western portion of the latter occupied by Europe – lying east of the Suez Canal, east of the Ural Mountains, and south of the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian and Black Seas. It is bounded to the east by the Pacific Ocean, to the south by the Indian Ocean, and to the north by the Arctic Ocean.

When I think Asian, I think of any country that's associated with the Asian continent. Same with African, Eurpoean, and American I refer to as North and South American. When I refer to someone from China, I say Chinese. Or Korean, Brit, Arab, etc... Not out of distaste for another country, but that's the way of the world. lol

for one China is in Asia. LOL
Secondly, I can't always distinguish between chinese and japanese and I don't want to be offensive. I made that mistake a long time ago and I felt really badly.
RX there are several theories, so the one you subscribe to isn't apodictic.
You can express that you subscribe to it but don't purport it has the only truth.
