why do some websites have faster download speeds than others?

why on some websites i get 3 megs a second and on some i get 20 kb/s?? Is it the websites bandwidth or is it something to do with my computer (I have cable modem)

Not you. It is all on the websites bandwitdh. They are throttling the connection.

depends on factors like bandwidth and size of web page usually presence of images makes websites slower to load.

Different Providers run at different speeds. It can depend on there equipment and the number of servers and customers.
