My sister got pregnant with an IUD in place and it was an ectopic pregnancy. She had to have surgery and get it all removed. It was a close call.

I got pregnant while using the Mirena IUD. It was really close to the expiration date (it was due to be changed at my yearly checkup in January before it expired in February, but I got pregnant in November) so my doctor thinks the hormones that were emitted weren't strong enough to prevent pregnancy. Luckily it wasn't an ectopic, which is common with IUDs. I had it removed, despite the risk of miscarraige, and gave birth in June, 2 months early. Despite it failing, I decided to go with Mirena again at my six week checkup (but won't go so close to the expiration date this time).

YES! the baby Im carrying right now was conceived well i had an IUD.
they removed the IUD shortly after me finding out , btu they also prepared me and told me that I could have had a misscarriage with them removing it and could have had one if they left it in.
Im currently due any day =)
