I've never heard the phrase: "wives tale" but I'll say; (after reading other answers,) My room was in the basement, & I remember my mom used to ask me from the top of the stairs just as I get in bed; "DID YOU BRUSH YOUR TEETH & GO PEE PEE??-DID YOU SAY YOUR "PRAYERS"?? (I was raised mormon)
