I dont want to kill this turtle, just relocate it due to the fact the lake where it is at is turning into a subdivision. This turtle won't come very close to shore, and if you see it out in the middle it just goes straight back under. This lake is more than 10 feet deep so I can't get it with a net. Can anyone help?

Relocating turtles can be tricky. As the pond gets more and more compromised, it will almost certainly move on its own.

You can also ask your county extension service or animal shelter for assistance. They may even loan you a trap or some help.

Use a turtle trap. (Live traps, that is.) Chicken or turkey necks work great for bait. You need something the turtle can get into, but not get out of.

Another way is the sunning turtle trap. It has something for the turtles to climb up on to sun, but has a net below. When the turtle's get spooked, they dive into the water but can't escape because they're in the net. See links below.

Do an internet search for turtle traps or check with a local rental place. There are places that rent animal traps and the like.
