In the words of Benjamin Franklin:

"Those who would give up freedom for security, deserve neither."

9/11's are attacks on our country and criminal acts and acts of war if a country is behind it. They should be fought and defended against. Fighting against 9/11's is a fight for our freedoms and a fight for our way of life. This is heroic and patriotic.

Giving up freedoms on the other hand, is cowardly and waiving the white flag...and saying that times have changed and that we must surrender some freedoms to be safe.
Well freedom is not free, and freedom is not safe.

We must be willing to accept the risk of 9/11's all the while fighting to prevent them, but we cannot buy safety with the surrender of freedoms.

You must be a paid blogger. Boy are they wasting their money.

Events of 9/11/2001 were used by neocons to strip Americans of their freedoms and create a monarchy run by a president. This created instability but great opportunities to make big money.

Because of the neocon actions, we have fewer freedoms and are at greater risk. I wish just a fraction of the military budget had been spent to create universal health care in the United States.

I stopped being afraid in 2003 when we went on a bus trip to NY city my son who was 6 years old at the time wanted to see the statue of liberty in fact it was all he talked about for months, once we got there we find out you can no longer go in the statue anymore due to the attacks of 9 - 11
at that point I was no longer afraid of terrorists, Why ? because they already won by taking that freedom away
and so many more freedoms have been taken away since then by our wonderful leader.

Big time oversight on the surveillance activities of the government. Warrants. Additional remarks in the Patriotic Act about reversing it in the case of an abuse of power. Much less secrecy so our government can function normally. There must be ways to protect our Constitutional rights. In no way should American citizens be at the mercy of our president. This is very dangerous and could go on for many years.

More 9/11's will we have. Less freedom does not this guarantee.

To believe this only a fool would.

Take the freedom I would........ Evil is the Empire. Lie and make promises they cannot keep they do. Stop at nothing they will.

No amount of suppression of rights will guarantee us safety. And no amount of freedom will guarantee more 9/11s. It is a silly, simplistic question, along the lines of Bush's thinking.

Our president has guaranteed that we will have 9/11s all over the earth, and has taken away many of our personal freedoms. If he could, he would remove the crown from the Pope's hand, just like Napoleon did, and crown himself "emporer of the Americas" This man is nothing but a washed out and abject failure to America and the entire earth.

What is freedom? What is safety?

People who are safe die and suffer.

People who are free of one thing may be enslaved to others.

Though many people may have positively certain definitions these are abstract ideas that although in our social conversation may have less bearing and be used to manipulate us far more than we realize.

Both of these nouns represent abstracts and have sliding drawable lines that merely represent what the words make us feel.

Is it safe to live protected from others in a cage of your own?

Is it free to stand alone having killed everyone so you remain unopposed?

Safe for what? Free from what?

It is just these types of words, that have so many meanings to so many different people, that are able to have so much control over our decisions and who we put our trust in.
But realize they use the words either in different meanings than our own or worse, they are free from the words and use them specifically to manipulate us.

Step out of your own words and release the power they have over your emotions.

You cannot provide absolute certainty of security. I can take a bottle full of gasoline onto a plane and blow it up. Any suicide bomber can do it. All they do at the security check is to ask you to take a sip of your "water". If you're going to blow up the plane with yourself on it anyway, what do you care about drinking some gasoline?
