Can ANYONE explain the plot of Sublime (2007) for me?

I have recently seen the movie, and I have NO clue what the heck was going on during the movie. ANyone wanna help me understand it???

A man who thought he survived true horror...was actually working through stuff in the moments before he died...and then passed on to the other side.
Like Jacob's Ladder...he let go and moved on.

first answer is the nutshell.. however the horror was created by his wife's persistance in keeping him alive.. He would have died peacefully had she not kept it going..
