That is very small compared to what we are giving Iraq. I think Israel has been a much better friend. One can not read scripture without realizing that God has a special relationship with Israel. It would be wise of us to treat them well.

According to the Congressional Research Service - Library of Congress - (Order Code 98-916 - CRS Report for Congress) entitled Foreign Aid: An Introductory Overview of U.S. Programs and Policy, "By nearly all measures, the amount of foreign aid provided by the U.S. declined for several decades but has grown in the past few years. After hitting an all-time low in the mid1990s, total foreign assistance (but excluding Iraq reconstruction) for FY2003/2004, in real terms, has been larger than any two-year period since the mid1980s. The 0.2% of U.S. gross national product represented by foreign aid obligations in the past two years, however, is among the smallest amount in the last half-century. The United States is the largest international economic aid donor in dollar terms but is the smallest contributor among the major donor governments when calculated as a percentage of gross national income. In addition, all foreign military aid is targeted before it is approved and Israel (like other nations) receives NO funds that she can just spend however she wishes. Every dollar is allocated to a specific approved purchase from a specific approved AMERICAN company. This gives jobs to U.S. defense industry workers. Without this so-called "aid" many of these companies would have to lay off much of their workforces which would negatively affect the U.S. economy. Don't use foreign aid as an excuse for lack of universal health insurance in this country, or blame it for our neglect of the infrastructure, because it's just an excuse.

I mind giving my money to any country outside of the US, especially countries that can support themselves. I'm actually really angry about this, give me some money! A few million is all I ask.

If the main argument to give money to Middle Eastern countries is that it'll keep certain US (weapons) companies alive, isn't that foolish because they can't compete in the market anyway? Let those companies go under if nobody wants their products! That is what capitalism is all about! Use the money on industries that we (the consumers) actually want!

I really think we should take care of America FIRST regardless of what country we are giving to. How many homeless and starving people do we have here today in this country? Senior citizens suffer a lot and they have worked and paid in to this country but cant get anything back if they need it. We need to raise our own standard of living and give the left overs away.

Presumably you don't care about the billions America gives to Germany and Iraq, for example...?

Israel is fighting the same terrorists who brought mayhem, and death, to your country - and she has been battling these terrorists a lot longer than you.

You should be happy to support Israel; she is one tiny, tiny country surrounded by hostile Arab lands and she is the last bastion of democracy in the Middle East.

Why is it that people on this site NEVER mention the billions the USA gives to other countries - only Israel???

Israel is your best ally in the Middle East; you benefit from her loyalty and intelligence information.

Why on earth wouldn't you want to support a tiny nation that was constantly defending herself against terrorism?
