I have friends in the Cayman Islands, and Hurricane Dean is supposed to hit there on Monday.

Please tell your b/f NOT TO DRIVE in the water after the storm.

This is due to the fact that the water is not freshwater, like Ohio. It is SALTWATER, and the vehicles electrical system will be completely damaged by driving in the water.

My friends learned this the hard way when Hurricane Ivan hit the Cayman's.

There are plenty of shelters (to ride out the storm) at Hotels on the Island. Tell him to go to the Ritz, and he'll be safe.

No, it won't affect Ohio.

No. No hurricane in any way can make it to Ohio without dying away to just a rain storm. By the time it makes it up there, it will probably just be showers and a 10 mph winds The storm is expected to stay in the yucatan and later to a second landfall in the texas and mexico border

Nope....it is impossible for a hurricane in the gulf of Mexico to reach Ohio.

Hi since i live in the uk and now a lot about hurricanes if one was heading your way it would die overland and just be a rainstorm in your area

P.S Feel sorry for people in Jamaica at this moment

Ohio is land locked! How could it hit you? You may get some of the rain and winds from it if it travels that way but it can't hit you directly.

staring on the maps on hurr. dean, the previous couple of days there has been a top point disturbance pushing down from the north yet as we talk 8/20/07 that disturbance is changing extra to the east. as rapid because it moving it looks like rather pushing it down into Mexico it may desire to pull it north because it falls in-at the back of this frontal device and that i say it may desire to pass in around Texas and Louisiana border

No as the storm travels overland it usually weakens in strength and the worst you might get is rain and wind.
