Ha-ha. Hillary will have a much better showing than the misunderstood former senator.
The cons slandered McGovern, stating he was going to pull all of our troops out of Viet Nam with their tails between their legs; Nixon's slogan was "Withdrawal with Honor," or words to that effect.
McGovern also had a problem with his first running mate, Senator Eagleston, who received treatment for depression that was revealed during the campaign; forcing McGovern to choose Sargent Shriver, a Kennedy relative as a last-minute replacement.

Things have changed regarding voter's attitudes, and they will change again. In a pole announced on the radio last week, 52 percent of Democrats said they would not vote for Hillary. The 48 percent that would must be in San Francisco.

It was Massachusetts and DC.
And I think she will win a considerably greater number of states than McGovern if she's nominated to run as the Democratic candidate. If she isn't nominated, then I think she has an uphill battle. :)
Cheers.

He won Massachusetts, and DC, if I recall correctly.
Hillary will win more, regardless of her opponent. After all, McGovern was running against a (then) popular sitting president, while Hillary, for all her negatives, is running against an yet-unknown challenger from a party whose sitting president is immensely unpopular.
