entrepreneuring, or starting your own business, requires specific behaviors that most people simply do not possess and can not easily learn -- and they aren't book based behavoirs so universities don't teach them or don't teach them well.

there is a reason that large Japanese corporations have their salarymen learn and demonstrate their sales song in groups -- it is very scary for some 90% of individuals.

I guess it depends how you define successful business people. Not all expect to be CEO of a top Fortune 500 company, and of course there is only room for many at the top. Many graduates find themselves in completely unrelated jobs or careers after they enter the workforce. Usually dentists, doctors and the like just stay in the one profession. Others have a vast variety of careers, and happiness is not defined by how big is your paycheque.
