I have an HP 6L. My wife bought it cheap. It works fine except that it likes to pull all of the sheets of paper through instead of just one at a time. Is there an easy and cheap fix for this that doesn't require buying a special tool or kit?

Many printers have rubber feeders that grab the paper and feed it. They are about 8 mm diameter, 16 mm high and are in the shape of a right circular cylinder. Exact dimension varies from one model to another.

The rubber hardens with time and tends to change its dimension - causing multiple paper feed.

You can buy replacement rollers for many models; check this out for yours. I had a 5 L a long time ago and this fixed it.

Use reasonable quality paper and more important "riffle" the paper (i.e. flick through the sheets like you would a cartoon flick book or a pack of cards) before you put it in the printer to separate the sheets otherwise where the paper was cut at the factory will stick the sheets together. As above, cleaning the rollers with denatured alchohol/methylated spirits won't hurt either.

clean all rollers with alcohol and q-tips
sometime the rollers need a bit of green-scrubbing pad cleaning.
