I do not believe that in a democratic society, the individual can give the authority to the government, that to which he/she has no moral right. Therefore I feel life is a gift, and no body, even the government has the right to take it. I do however, believe that a person has a right to self preservation, and therefore the government can raise troops for the protection of the society.

And while I don't support the government's projection of those forces into other countries without the request of the citizens of that country. I do support the troops who do not have a choice in where they are sent.

I can't think of any examples where it is right to do so.

People can't rightly give government any rights they themselves don't have. Individual rights don't come from government; they are unalienable and granted by God.

Self preservation, which includes enforcing justice, is something an individual can do.

Forcibly taking from the rich and giving to the poor is an example of something society frequently does, which is wrong for both society and for an individual to do.

As you notice, it is society that establishes the right and wrong. That is why different societies have different views of right and wrong.

I think you are asking if governments have the right to dictate rules to us.
If that is the case then yes of course it is, otherwise we would live in utter chaos.
