How will the Browns do this year? Brady Quinn looked amazing last night but it was preseason. My brother reminded me that he was playing against the Lions 3rd team Defense. I told him that it was the Browns 3rd team offense so he's not working with too much. I know its early but heres my prediction.

7-9. 3rd Place Division. Miss playoffs.

I've always been a Brown's fan, having lived just east of Cleveland all my life before moving south a year ago. I wish the Brown's well & hope their season is a good one. I hope Brady Quinn does well also. It takes a great team effort, so my fingers are crossed that they have a decent year.

GO BROWNS!!! DAWG POUND BE READY!!! WOOF!!!

I hope im not saying the Browns' gutsy move on draft day has already paid off, but what he did last night was nothing short of amazing. After holding out for weeks on end, missing most of training camp, and making his NFL debut right there, he went 13-20 for over 150 yards and threw 2 TDs. Thats very impressive, and I think the Browns ownership and coaching are very happy about that.

I do believe they will miss the playoffs this year, because the AFC is stacked, more specifically the AFC North is stacked, but if the Browns can go .500 or better this season against the AFC North, their playoffs hopes can be more than fulfilled. While I dont expect Brady Quinn to lead them to the Super Bowl this season, I expect a decent improvement. I do believe they could do better than the Steelers, but I think Brady Quinn will really start to show his stuff in the coming years.

Im saying 7-9 or 8-8, but they will end this season on the note the 49ers ended last season on, eagerly awaiting next season, with the consensus agreeing on a team that can be a contender in the coming years. I know Romeo Crennel and Phil Savage beileve that, but its the ownership Im worried about. They have been known to give up on great coaches before they have had the chance to show their stuff, for example Bill Belichick and Marty Schottenheimer (although Marty did lead them to 3 AFC Championship game). I just want to see how Romeo does when hes done rebuilding his team and has it just how he wants it.

Brady Quinn said it best in the post game interview.
"this is a team game."
The team as a whole made too many foolish mistakes, and the ones from the first team are simply unforgivable. Second and third string you expect it, but not first.

They have good weapons, the line is slowlyy coming together, and the mistakes made, were not from the QB getting pressured (aside from Andersons fumble), so from that perspective it looked good.

Also encouraging was that the Defense kept a Martz first string offense to field goals. (Yes Kitna had his touchdown in the 2nd, and looked darn good doing it, but Wimbley and most of the Brpwns startes were on the bench by then).
Eric Wright did a great job keeping Calvin Johnson covered, I remember seeing only one pass attempt his way, which Wright broke up nicely. Since Fuurey and Williams were sitting, you know Kitna would have gone to CJ more had he been open. So there is hope on that front.

And about Quinn. Yep, he played the Third stringers. Yep, he had the worst players onhis team protecting and receiving for him. So hard to read too much into the yards or TDs, it is true (though I was there in the DawgPound, and I gotta say, the last 9 minutes WERE electric.). What did matter was the Poise and Maturity he demonstated. He came in at crunch time, with a lot of pressure and expectation, put it all aside, and performed. Period. He made zero bad decisions, made good reads, and only had two poor passes (the conversion, and one he underthrew. Remember, the three spikes of the ball skewed his completion ratio, of the ones he actually threw he completed 75% and two of those were the receivers fault, which is to be expected with third string receivers). On top of that he mantained his poise and never tried to force anything. Two of his completed passes were made while a defender was literally wrapping him up and taking him down, and he still finished his progressions. If he can show that kind of Poise, he should do fine.

About this season? I think 6-7 is safe. The division is the toughest in the NFL, and they are playing catchup. I not sure if Cleveland can honestly expect I win there, though again in division games anything seems possible (unless you are the Raiders these days). But they should be able to put together something the rest of the season, though I think this is largely dependant on Quinns progress, as Anderson and Frye just make too many bad decisions. And that is what it is. They have the ability, but not the Mental toughness to hold on and not force things. If the Team can stay healthy, and the owners don't get stupid and fire Savage and Crennel before thay can finally put the team together(They have only about three players that were on the Roster from when they took over, and have been palgued by injuries ever since), they Should be able to build in to an .500 or better team next season.

And did anyone else notice that in Crennels post-game interview, It was the first time he callled Brady by name, instead of "the Quarterback" since training camp started?
Might mean something.

I'm a HUGE Lions fan. Congrats on a valiant effort last night. But from the looks of it (I know it's only the pre-season) your team needs some work on offense. Especially on keeping their penalties down and snapping the ball before the clock runs out. Brady Quinn was impressive, however, like your brother said, it WAS the Lions 3rd string defense. Once he gets more work in with the Browns first string he'll be OK. but it's going to take a few seasons.

7-9 is pretty optimistic even for a Browns fan. I'm thinking more like 5-11, but I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see Quinn succeed. I like his talent, but I'd like to see him with a better team so he doesn't get beat up before he has a chance. I don't understand why the Redskins passed on him. They have a good running game, good receivers, and some promising young linemen. Yet, they refuse to either sign a veteran quarterback or draft someone with talent! It might be a long haul for Brady. He's going to have to learn a new system next year for a new coach.

Give it time.
This is preseason. But this preseason is a little more intense that some others. I am 50 so been around a long time.
The steelers in game one were like the teams in week 10.
So, maybe you have a point that he can do it
He is a kid and will make mistakes. but, opponents also make mistakes
Maybe this will be your years.
I still like to wait till week 6 to see who will be in the gravy at the end of the year.

Im reading some of the answers that previous people wrote and I can't see them doing better than 3-12, and thats being nice...has anyone seen Cleveland's schedule? But I will say this, if Quinn starts early in the season, they will win more than people expect. Romeo wil be fired if the Browns don't go .500 this season.

i think the first quarter of the season will be rough, but once the team gels i think you'll see them 2nd in division 9-7 fighting for wild card.
