The best way to induce a ground ball is to throw a sinking curve low and outside. The reasoning is that to hit the lower pitch one has to swing down more. The reasoning for the outside part is that many hitters will be ahead of the slower pitch and probably end up trying to pull it. This will not only result in a grounder, but a weak one at that. This is perfect for a regular grounder, or a double play.

It truely is all about the person swinging the bat. I can hit just about any fastball into the gap. It all about timing and practice, watch the red dot and make contact with the ball. The hardest pitch to pick up is the low and inside pitch being the pitcher is right handed and the hitter is right handed. If the batter is left handed, the pitch coming inside is very easy to see coming on a right handed pitcher. Hence if the pitcher is left handed it is very easy for a right handed hitter to see coming inside. But if your ball has good movement like a slider, curve ball or the hardest of all the knuckle ball, It will throw the hitters timing off making them ground a lot more frequently.

low and outside. a high pitch anywhere or a low inside heater will be taken out for sure. A low pitch when the count is 1-2 will force the batter to swing, and there is little chance of anything but a ground ball to the infield.

You pitch low to try to get the hitter to hit on top of the ball, which will make him hit a grounder.

low, if you want to force a grounder that is the spot to pitch. if you pitch it high, the batter could possibly hit a home run. most pros hot zones are up high.

Low. Just as important, a change of speed from faster to slower will get the batters on their front foot and serve up some dribblers. Careful, some lefties are notorious for the low to high uppercut swing, keep em guessin!

pitch the ball low thats why a lot of MLB players throw sinkers because most people hit ground balls for easy outs or to get the double play
