how many bottles of red paint will you need and how many of yellow paint will you need(all bottles are the same size)

2/3 + 4/5 = 22/15.

2. Find out how many of these orange "units" are in 88 bottles:
88/(22/15) = 60.

3. Find out how many bottles of red are in 60 orange "units":
60 * 2/3 = 40 red bottles.

4. Same for yellow:
60 * 4/5 = 48 yellow bottles.

A batch of orange paint is made by combining 2/3 of a bottle of red paint with 4/5 of a bottle of yellow paint.

So, we see that the ratio of red to yellow paint is
(2/3) / (4/5) = 5/6

That means we will have the right proportion when we combined 5 bottles of red paint with 6 bottles of yellow paint, or 11 bottles in total. If we do this 8 times, we will have 88 bottles of orange paint. So, we simply combine
5*8 = 40 bottles of red paint
with
6*8 = 48 bottles of yellow paint
to get
40+48 = 88 bottles of orange paint

or 10 bottles red + 12 bottles yellow
or 10/12 bottle red + 1 bottle yellow

take 10x/12 bottles red + x bottles yellow

10x/12 + x = 88
22x/12 = 88
x = 88(12/22) = 48

# of red paint = (10/12)x = 48(10/12) = 40 bottles
# of yellow paint = x = 48 bottles
