It appears to be a "Registry" problem. A quick solution is to switch off the PC and remove the IDE cable from the IDE (Motherboard) Slot. Boot the PC as normal and then "Shut Down". Its a known issue with Windows XP and ITunes, but I've had to use it MANY times to fix this problem on Windows Vista. Just follow the advice. You can use the "download guided help" if you are running any variation of Windows XP.

Have you tried to uninstall each of the drives within device manager?
If not ... try it... then do a reboot and let windows reinstall them.

check that your ribbon has not become disconected. they have been known to become lose in the mother board end .i had this and by pushing it back in both my drives returned.on display.
