10 year old huh? That is a easy one. In this day and age, go with video games, paint ball guns, money/gift certificates. It all depends on what your specific 10 year old wants. If it is a girl, well, buy clothing and make up, stuff like that.

You could be a little different by choosing something that you would probably never see today being given to a child try a book something that helps build their self esteem their character as a humane being on the planet a toys and other selfish material things never last but a book will stay with them forever as it feeds into the miracles brain!

To a girl....
Try anything Limited Too or Justice clothing. Purses, nail polish, books, markers, sketchbooks, dolls, doll clothing and music (appropriate) are also good ideas. If they like sports, get them sporting good items. A typical ten yr old girl will like anything pink and pretty.
To a boy...Hot Wheels? Action figures? Books, again work. DVD's, music, sporting good items...

Someone gave me two tickets and a ticket for soda and popcorn one time.
Depending on cost, you could treat him/her and a friend or two to movies and popcorn.
The theatre should have gift vouchers.

If you do not know what they are interested in you may want to consider money or a gift card to say Wal-Mart. There they can get what they want and you get credit!
Good Luck
