Is there a solution to the constant cheating in football today?
I propose a FOUR point deduction for any team deemed to be blantantly cheating as Chelsea and Sunderland have done so far. I think that would work as a deterrant, even with the slimiest of cheats. Of course, certain clubs may end up relegated instead of qualifying for Europe, but serves them right for stealing goals and points.
Or should the soccer authorites just sit on their hands and do bugger-all to sort the cheaters out, like they usually do?

Mobjob. I agree cheating is actually part of the game, but it needn't be, and shouldn't be. People who cheat to win lack honour and general decency.

Good point! And I agree it isn't happening every game. But Birmingham, for instance, have been robbed of 4 well-earned point at a crucial time of the season, and that is just not right. We have to sharpen things up, with better rulings and better refereeing performances.

I'm french and Florent Malouda is extremely famous in France for being a major diver, and I mean EXTREMELY! He could write a book about it. He's ALWAYS simulating and diving in the area, just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Drogba (2 others major cheaters). I had to laugh when I saw what happened today because the referee fell for it and I couldn't believe it. In France he had to be a little more subtle because everybody knew he would try that at least once or twice every game. But then again, english referees are so bad that I shouldn't be surprised they fell for it. Malouda is a real pain, cheating all the time and when he's sent off for simulating (it's happened many times to him) he has the nerve to complain in the press when everyone can see the tv images and realize that's he's a diver. Maybe that's why mourinho wanted him for chelsea, I think mourinho has a weakness for cheaters.

Yes something should be done about diving. If Malouda did dive.and I can't voice an opinion on that as I have not seen the game highlights yet, then he must have been to the cheating school and learned from the Master of diving Ronaldo !

Something should be done , but the feeble higly paid execs sitting in their Ivory towers at Premier HQ are more interested in feathering their own nests. Chelsea not only are all highly trained in the art of diving but are also a disgrace for confronting the ref after every big decision, just how does that make the ref feel when he has to give the next decision against them? Something needs to be done but with weak leaders you get anarchy....

In the Liverpool game Malouda wasn't trying to win a penalty both men went fot the ball. The referee messed up. It's a sad fact that in the last 20 years the speed of the game has picked up and the referees have been left behind. With so much money at stake today, FIFA, and the EPL should take a serious look at how to improve officiating standards and technical aids.

After the game, a board should look at who dived for what at the weekend. Those divers then face red/yellow cards themselves and are given them during the week.

If a player consistently dives then 3 match bans come into the equation.

If a player gets another player sent off for nothing, then reverse the decision.

Not a bad idea. Malouda was not taken down. That was not a penalty. The biggest problem is the referees in England are crap, especially Rob Styles. They are absolutely horrible.

I agree, there is so much at stake nowadays for clubs I feel the pressure is put on players to cheat by the expectations that are placed upon them by their clubs.
All clubs regardless of how big they are, should have points deducted ( not fined ) if their players are found to be diving etc.
