Same with 300, they are supposed to be Spartans, and Gerry Butler just talks in his native scottish (which is, by the way, absolutely FINE with me...), or in the new movie Last Legion, some are Roman and they have English accents as well. It is probably a lesson learned from movies like Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, where Kevin Costner, although a great actor, can not pull off a foreign accent. Now some do it well: Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger going british and Clive Owen and Cillian Murphy going American. So it can be done, but if the actor cant really pull it off, it is more distracting to the movie than just letting them use their own accent and acting well.

That is an interesting question that I have no answer to!
They are in France, so that`s correct.
I just think that it sounds more medieval than them having American Accents (has America even been discovered yet? It`s been a while since I`ve seen the movie)

If the language is unnatural to begin with, what difference does the accent make. Perhaps you'd rather it be made in French with sub-titles. If I'd seen it, maybe I would have preferred that too.

or maby its a conspiracy sent from north korea. kim jung ill befriends bush. bush makes the director put british accents on the french movie so the french would be mad and vunalrable and north korea could abolish france and take it for themselves.

I'm guessing it's because an English accent sounds "European" to most Americans and American actors find an English accent easier to fake than a French one.

Because its in English, so they need to have an accent that is European that speaks English. Still they could of found French actors that spoke English, but that may be harder to cast!
