If they answer questions they are helping other people and just because they are not asking for something in return, it doesn't mean they are rude. Also, if they answer jokes and questions intended for the enjoyment of the answerer they might not think their questions would measure up. It looks like I haven't posted any questions because no one bothers to answer when I do or they just give rude answers so they just get deleted so you can't just make assumptions about people from yahoo.

Now why do you think that ,??
this is called yahoo answers,
after all
Some of us are here as a service to supply information for those who want or need it ,
I have answered 24570 total answers
and asked 95 total questions
is that rude ??
And a large percentage of the questions are rubbish just asking a question for the questions sake .
If people cannot think of a question ,why not answer a few instead of posting meaningless questions
here are some of my answers
i would like to understand why some people regard that as rude
mine is the last answer

No, not necessarily, after all the main reason for this web sight was for people who HAVE questions to post so we who can answer, do. Not everyone has a question. Besides we are in P&S i have yet to see a question on here that is serious.

no....
we can do what we want, right ?
Isnt it more rude to post questions, but not answers? coz that just shows that the person doesnt want to help someone else, but wants to find out stuff for themselves...?
How is it rude that someone doesnt post any questions of their own??
Its a free country ..

I don't think it's rude. I personally don't ask a lot of questions because either what I was going to ask I have found the answers to be searching the answer category or I just can't think of something to ask about.

Not at all. I've tried to post two very innocent questions today and both have been removed-- why, I have no idea. I'm not asking any more questions at this point, I'm so irritated. So my point is, just because people ANSWER a lot doesn't mean they don't try ASKING, too.

No, not at all. When I have a question, I first do a search to see if it's already been asked before. It usually is, but if not, I ask it. I answer many more than I ask, because I am a teacher and like to see students benefit from my help.

No, what's the problem with that? Maybe they don't want to get advice from a bunch of strangers, they just want to help other people out. I really don't think that is rude one little bit.

No.
When I ask questions, I usually only get 1-3 answers.
And sometimes, it is quite strange to get advice from strangers.
