According to press report, thoushads of passengers in hundreds of vehicles, including buses, trucks and ambulances, were stranded on the Kalka-Shimla highway for over 14 hours on Monday due to a major landslide near Jabli. Besides, a 100-meter railway track at Koti Railway Station was also washed away, leading to cancellation of all train traffic between Kalka and Shimla for the next 15 days at least.

The historical Koti Railway Station was also damaged. However, no loss of life was reported.

According to H K Jaggi, Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala, it will take about 15 days to restore rail traffic on this section. When asked about the quantum of loss, he said it is a very big loss but the exact damage is yet to be assessed.
