do u think it was harder for a white rapper ( eminem ) to break through to the mainstream,

but once he got there it was easier than it is for black rapper

I really don't believe it was easier. Because he is white people didn't care for him. People used to laugh. I remember when Eminem first came out. Yeah like 9 years ago or something like that. My man tried unsuccessfully to get his friends to listen to his first album. They refused and made fun of him because they was like please a white boy rapping whats next camels flying? But when his second album came out they felt stupid and thats when they were all on his d*ic*k. Then and only then did it become eaiser for him. After he proved himself.

I think it probably depends on the talent level more than anything. Eminem is incredible, so I can't imagine he had much difficulty.
