First check ur default cursor in control panel if it is not HourGlass cursor as Normal Select Cursor. To do this Contorl Panel>>Printers and other hardware>> Mouse>>pointers>> Here check for Normal Select option and make sure there is NO busy cursor selected. Otherwise click use default button >> ok>>Ok

Second close all apps and press Crtl+Alt+Del then to Processes Tab>>Here first sort the processes by memory usage.. by clicking on Mem Usage menu Button. Now check here for abnormal memory usage. If it is known and valid application then ignore it. Otherwize end Process and check cursor again. If its the cause then uninstall the app or perform an update for this application.

Third Do a malware scanning, use an good antivirus and perfrom an scanning.. Chances are it will come up with Worm .
remove them.

Your computer may have a virus and you will need to do a fall scan do the scan that comes with your computer..eg if your with broadband you should get norton scan - But if that doesnt work try going on good websites where you can download stuff to help your computer.

But revise before downloading anything because i got a new laptop for christmas and i tried downloading something of windows website and totally crashed my laptop. So please do read up on anything or ask for advice before downloading anything esle

As long as you see the hourglass, your computer is busy handling it's business and you are being told to wait until it's finished.

If you keep giving instructions, they keep piling up, and the hourglass keeps turning. Striking any key can be considered an instruction.

Be patient.

It sounds as though it is cycling. I would look into the issue, rather than ignore it. Start with a CTRL + ALT Del to see what processes are running. It is probably trying to print something (print job is stuck in the queue) or it's trying to get an update that has become stuck. The running process will hog your CPU and reduce your computer's abilities to process.

What brand of PC do you have? Have you checked your Control Panel? Look there for category MOUSE PROPERTIES.. Then, click onto BROWSE, and you should see the HOURGLASS you spoke of. Here you should be able to make your change/s. CLICK onto the CURSER you want, Right Click Mouse, click OPEN. Here is where you make whatever change you are wanting with your CURSER. Hope this helps you with your Question.
