If the foundation looks orange, then yes it is too dark for your skin. I suggest trying the new Almay SmartShade. It comes out of the tube clear, but as you rub it on your skin, it takes the tone of your skin. You choose between light, medium, and dark and it just "magically" matches your skin tone.
Covergirl also has the new "skin matching" makeup.
But it from somewhere like CVS or Walgreens since they have a cosmetic money back guarantee.
The Almay will work great for you-I promise.

hey ok well when going to find the right foundation dont put it on in the artificial lights of the shop..because it might look good on you inside the shop but if you walk outside it could be a completely different colour so i suggest bringing a pocket mirror with you to check what its like outside, also you dont want to have a make up cut off line so put it onyour jawbone or you could put it on the back of your hand were you will notice the skin is lighter,or you could try going to the beauty counter bit and asking them for some advice makin sure you ask for it to look natural.hope this helps you.. clairex

I used to have the same problem. Yes that means its too dark, you need to find a shade which matches your skin tone. Go to a proffessional make up counter and they will help you chose your perfect tone. Hope this helps x

remember, if u decide to go to a makeup couner, like MAC, make sure to let them know if you just got a tan, maybe your tan is leaving and thats why the makeup seems too orange, u usually have to have to different tones of foundation per year, one for when u get darker over the summer, and the lighter one u would usually use in the winter, hope this helps

If it looks too ashy, it is too light, if it looks orangey(???)...could just be the wrong shade or too "warm" for your skintone. Believe it or not...first use the inside of your wrist, to try a color of foundation, then if it blends in there (or matches well), put some alongside your jawbone and see if it blends in and is un-noticable and natural. Try Almay foundations...they are great, not too high-priced and offer a good range of formulas and colors.

It means it's too orange. It probably is too dark, but some of them depending on the color have an orangey tint that you need to look out for.

depending on how much you want to spend you can go to the make up counter of a lancome or clinique or whatever you have at your local mall and have one of the consultants match you up with a perfect shade.
you could either purchase theirs... or go to the store later on and purchase another brands version of that shade.
have them put a swipe across a sample card so you can match with store brands.
i like cover girl - they have tons of shades. i would try the perfect match kind that's out now.

yes its best to try it on the back of your hand, if you have pale to medium coloured skin try ivory, then maybe go to the next warmer colour and see if thats any better, try to look for more paler colours than warm such as peach etc as they oftern turn out orange

I suggest you get something with yellow undertones, such as "Sonya Kashuk" foundation and you can get it only at Target. $11.00 and so worth it. I LIVE BY IT.
