The makers of Causualty have been told they can't film an episode about a Muslim suicide bomber, they have to change the plot to it being Animal Extremist because having the bomber as a Muslim will perpetuate the bad image of young Muslim men.

Does anyone agree with this and why?

It was folk within the BBC who said no to the Casualty plot line.
Channel 4 are going ahead with a thing about a female Muslim bomber blowing up Canary Wharf.

We didn't have any problems portraying the IRA as Irish Catholics, and what about the rights of Animal Right Activists - definately a case of political correctness I think.

Dr John. No, I don't watch it either, I just read what was happening in the paper today and thought it was all a bit iffy - related lines to your police tactics question.

There should be no such censorship. They've censored the images of 9/11 and bodies being removed from Ground Zero the same way, in order to protect the "religion of peace" and those mamzars who practice it.

The program makers could be accused of racism, or inciting riot, Portraying a stereotype. There are rules that cover TV programs in the UK for family viewing. call it a Code of Conduct. The Independent Television Commission(ITC) tries to make sure program makers and broadcasters follow the Code.

Also its Politics, they don't want to offend Muslims or victims of attacks by any terrorist group.

I don't watch the program, its a hospital drama, they have blown things up or had other disasters before - they are just trying to be topical

Censorship is made by consensus if the majority say yes then we should agree but if not we must agree too. In my opinion , why should we inculcate the young muslims to be a suicide bomber because there some who don't understand their laws of engagements in Islam.

The P.C. brigade trying to be the police of the Muslims again. when will they get it into their thick heads that not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists seem to be Muslims. They will not change these facts and everybody is not a fool and they should know this!

Probably the right choice. If they are creating a fictional storyline, using this would probably be unhelpful and could be inflammatory.

Making a documentary or dramatising real events would be different, of course.

How Casualty wasn't removed from our screens years ago I shall never understand.

If you are going to have Muslims in your country, you have to be sensitive to their little feelings, so they won't kill you.

Sensorship may be necessary, but self sensorship is best. at least then we can preserve the appearance of free speech.
