no, its true!! while vacationing in sunny, tropical alaska, which is waaay south of the 'quator, when i flushed, the entire bowl shot upwards onto the ceiling! gravity has no place there.

If you live in an apartment building directly over the equator, your toilets don't work. It is an impoverished area. If you did get them to work, they would flush in different directions, which would be very entertaining. This is a good thing, because there ain't no way you are ever going to get cable.

ROFLOLOL--
I went to Brazil with some friends on Spring Break about 20 years ago.
We went to go test it as soon as we got the to hotel room. We stood around the bowl, flushed, watched the water go down-- and none of us could remember which way it went in the Northern Hemisphere!
So I still really have no idea if that's true or not! LOL

tricky...i have no scientific or personal proof to answer the question about directly on top of the equator, but the water goes down according to gravitational pull so northern hemisphere does go down in an opposite direction than southern hemisphere, but directly on top of the equator?? maybe they have to have a swirl mechanism to get it going around...i dont know...I will fly out tomorrow and try to get yo an answer :)

If you live north or south of the equator.
Counter clockwise south.

Same. Toilet design controls direction not equator.
