I don't live there now, but I I'm a native New Yorker. It's one of the greatest cities on earth. Sure, it has its rough areas but they have so many interesting things to do and see there. If you wanted to move to a rural area, keep in mind that you'd have to drive much farther to get to places like the grocery store or train station. A middle of the road option would be something like the suburbs. It's really a personal preference. But since you're so sick of the city, maybe you should give another type of place a try.

People generally seem to dislike the place that they live in. I'm in Australia and I can't stand it, yet my partner, who is American, loves it here. Go figure!

If you don't like where you are, move somewhere else. If you can.

And how rural are you talking? To an Australian, you're talking farm-like area. That can be pretty lonely and a lot of hard work. Stick with urban, at least you'll have people around you!

I love to visit NYC. I don't think there's a better city on the planet!

However I would go nuts if I couldn't ride my Jeep off road in the mountains.

NYC is great for a day trip, but I like the burbs better.

Some folks like the bustle of the city, but there's a lot to be said about hearing crickets at night!

Live suburban. I like visiting NYC, but the suburban lifestyle gets the best of both.

It's great to visit, but I hated living there. Dirt, noise, crime... no thank you. I like my Jersey 'burbs.
