they certainly dont seem to care about genocide in general. Just the one that happened a very long time ago. It seems the wise counsel would be to help make the current world a better place rather than lament indefinitely over past wrongs.

How true.
One would think that the Jewish people would be the most empathetic beings on the face of this earth but sadly, the Israeli Jews at least seem to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others, and indeed INFLICT suffering on the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories.
Many people of the Jewish faith seem of be of the opinion that "their" Holocaust and suffering were/are the only matters that "count". But the truth is that the Jews' Holocaust is no different than the "Holocausts" suffered by African-Americans and Native Americans. The latter two did not have theirs recorded, but it makes them NO less relevant.

This is a true statement.
The lobbyist do not support HR 106 of the first genocide of the 20th century. Committed on the Armenians by the Turks.
1.5 million killed , raped, enslaved and forced conversion to Islam. Land taken and much more
All of this was with the help of Germany which gave the Nazis the training as as Hitler said "no one cared about the Armenians they will not care about the Jews". Most Jewish people do not take this stand but the lobbyist do as they are close with Turkey as many politicians are here and do not want to deal with up setting Turks.

It is sad but true.

I'm not sure Israel has the physical space to accept Darfur refugees, but to answer your question, there is a disturbingly influential portion of the world's Jewish community that tends to rank the validity of suffering, with Holocaust (of course and, I think, understandably) being the gold standard in modern times. This group engages in a "my suffering is greater than your suffering" line of thought, and in doing so, they undermine the power of the admonition, "Never again."

Someone mentioned ADL and the Armenian genocide. That's causing a schism in my home state of MA, where the New England ADL chapter's director was just fired for calling the ADL's stand "unconscionable", and two local board members have resigned in protest.

It's not all Jews who ignore the suffering of others, but it does seem like the most powerful ones are closed in their thinking in the way that you suggest.

Abraham Foxman (Leader of ADL) denies the Armenian genocide.
