Well i guess you just pack a whole lot of them...yes that means a lot of extrass ...just in case!! And to dispose of them you can do what dogs do..dig a hole and bury them. Best of Luck!

You haven't mentioned how old you'll be "when you are older" -

Once women reach menopause (in their 40's or 50's) they don't have periods anymore, so you don't have to worry about this.

If you'll be younger than that, then you have a couple of options:

One is to carry with you your favorite form of protection. For convenience sake, you'll probably want to get used to using tampons that are smaller like OB, or a re-usable cup.

Most major cities will carry tampons and pads - but they may not be the brand you prefer. If you aren't picky, you can plan on buying more as you travel.

It could be an interesting cultural experience to learn about and use whatever method is normal in the countries that you visit.

Finally, many women have been experimenting with taking birth control non-stop and eliminating their periods altogether. Look into this and discuss with your doctor before you do this however as there may be risks that you'll want to be aware of.

As for how to dispose - if you are really in a remote area with nothing else around, then you'll bury them as you would with other human waste. And if you are in any kind of settlement or village they'll have places desingated for trash or waste.

There are actually books out there that talk about stuff like this for the truely intrepid traveller. Do a search on "Adventure Travel advice women" to find books that speak to the kinds of questions you have.

I would personally try going on a BC that allows you only 4 periods a yr. or possibly none at all then you wouldn't have to worry about bringing or buying sanitary napkins/tampons... Good luck..
