My RESs hatched 3 eggs about a month ago.
I made a incubation bucket filled with sand and covered the eggs slightly.
I'm not sure if I should check if the eggs are fertile or not.. Because I'm scared I'll crush the embryo.
When is the time about when they hatch?
The eggs have been untouched for the last month.
Thanks ;)

If the bucket was not kept at a good temp and humidity, they may not be fertile anymore.

Fertile eggs hatch between 20 and 340 days, but usually in 2-3 months.

Go ahead and check them- if any are still good it might not be too late to get them in a better incubator. Try this article for incubation: http://tortoise.org/general/eggcare.html

Signs the eggs are not good:
- stinks
- black (rather than brown)
- collapsed or badly wrinkled
- covered with mildew or other crud
- bloated and very lightweight

the eggs usually take about 60 days under good conditions, but don't touch them, they can drown in the embryonic fluid.if you want carefully pick each one up and mark the top with a crayon,so you know which is the top, then just let nature take it's course, sometimes they don't hatch because their not fertile, the only way to tell is the old fashioned candle or light bulb.hold it in front and you should see a baby forming,if the time passes too long, you will just see a slightly dull yellow yolk inside, which either means it didn't develope
,or it's not fertile.
