If I were you, I'd give both of them either a Scottish first name or an Italian first name. If you do what you suggest, one of them is going to feel 'different'. If they're going to be growing up in Scotland, I'd chose the Scottish name for first name.
I think they're lovely names though.

I must say, I'm not keen on either first name. Massimo makes me think of a big, fat bloke, and David's just too common.
For Scottish names I like: Adair, Broden, Caelan, Cameron, Dougal, Fergus, Kendric, Lachlan, Laird, Murray and Nathair.
There is also a Scottish name which means 'twin'. It's different variations are: Tamnais, Taveon, Tavey, Tavin, Tavio, Tavion, Tavis, Tavish, Tavon, Tevin and Tevis.
Here are some nice Italian names: Alessandro, Antonio, Federico, Francesco, Gianni, Ilario, Lorenzo, Leonardo, Marco, Piero, Sebastiano and Stefano.
In Italian the name Tomasso also means 'twin'.
Hope that helped.

Congratulations!
I would agree with many of the other respondants and suggest you have Scottish first names/Italian middle names or vice versa for both babies. I would also suggest that you consider what they may be shortened to or nicknames as, as they get older - for example if Massimo had a hearty appetite - need I say more? Kids can be (evil) so blatantly honest it can be hurtful.
Stuart is a lovely Scottish name. Can't help you with the Italian. Best of luck
xx

firstly congratulations!!
i'm not so keen on either, also it doesnt seem fair that david gets a "normal" plain common name and massimo gets a "jazzy" unusual name. (christian names willbeused on a more daily basis)
i love the idea though of italian first and scottish middle and vice versa but maybe one of you parents should give way slightly and have both the boys the name nationality first and middle names, (i mean they both have scottish first names and italian middle names) then they are both equal as far as names go!!!!
Good luck, naming children is a very important decision and will affect their lives very much. i personally like names that are rare yet not too far "out there" my son is called jackson! Good luck with it, whatever names you choose just adds to the excitement of 2 new babies!!

I think people are misunderstanding that these are actually names for two BOYS. Not a boy and a girl.
Sorry, I'm not in love with either first name. Massimo is too "out there" for me and David is too boring.
How about as someone above suggested, Dario, instead of David.
My picks are:
D'Arcy Bennedetto
Dario Alisdhair

Congratulations !!!! hope all are doing well ... a few sleepless nights ahead for you.
I am Scottish and well aware that there are many Italian descendants in Scotland who add much to our culture especially the food !!!
I like both middle names , but I also like Dario as Italian and maybe Robert (Robbie) for the other one . ( e.g Robert the Bruce , Robbie Burns etc.)
No matter what you name them I am sure they will be fine
Good Luck
