- Is America now more ready for a woman or a person of color to be President.?
-No
What America needs right now is a President who would stand against the trend of taking sides and put the overall benefit of the American people before pride, power and popularity. The country is divided and will continue to be until American citizen's snap out of their apathetic slumber and act upon their Constitutional Rights and Responsibilities. There is a candidate who fits this description.

I would say both. The world has not come to an end like some feared because a woman is being considered for president. That goes for a "minority" as well. Interesting how supposed third world countries such as India, Africa, South America, the Philippines have had women as leaders, yet we as the so called "superpower country" are still stuck way behind the times. Sad if you think about it.

i'm not sure...and i'm a black woman. i'm not sure america is ready for either, because both would be such a break from tradition. i think that barack would face more drama from racists than hilary would. but i think if they ran together (barack the vice prez cause he has less experience), they couldn't lose. it seems america is ready to give democrats a chance after the mess bush made with the war.
also, i am a sociology student conducting an anonymous study on relationships. if you would like to participate, visit: http://geocities.com/sbiv37/marr

Great question!
I think there are groups of people, especially in the "bible belt" area, who will accept NEITHER yet.
And there are other groups who would consider a woman to be the "lesser of two evils".
Personally, I will vote for any candidate that represents my hopes for the country--whether black, white, green, M, F, or Gay!

America is ready for a change. America is desperate for change. As far as gender or race, I guess we will find out at the poles. We'll see if they can overlook gender or race. If not now, SOON!!!

I would say, as a nation, we are desperate to find ANYONE brave and exceptional enough to take on a job of cleaning up the mess, created by incompetent fools who reside in WHITE HOUSE and surrounding arias these days.

Well, in my belief, it should be their character, not their race or sex. We are a Christian nation, they should at least have those roots, if not more (as most Presidents have been more prone to pray for help once they got into office). I like Condoliza Rice. She reminds me of Margaret Thacher (loved her !) Unlike Hillary, who stole a bunch of paintings out of the Whitehouse and gutted the 747 (even the seats !) that flew them back to New York when they left office. They had to be asked to please return the stolen items to the Whitehouse, which they did (or risk being charged with left of Gov't property). So I do not think Hillary is fit to be President, but Rice, I think might be...
